The book is short and suffers for it. The story has a great premise and good re-characterizations of the classic players from Alice's Adventures/Looking Glass. I love the idea of a relationship between Alice and the White Rabbit, who, in this retelling, is a handsome man.The idea of the Queen of Hearts as a seductress who 'collects' young male companions, including the Cheshire Cat, is fresh and different.
The story is imaginative but needs to be fleshed out and expanded to be more coherent and cohesive. The end is especially rushed. The conflict between Alice, Rabbit, and the Queen is quickly and incompletely resolved.
I would definitely recommend this book, it's a good story, but it could have been much better. It's a great idea that deserves to be fully told!
